does any other kids do this?

as i have wrote before getting to seeing a neuropsych is like asking to see the lord, there are 2 by where i live and neither will accept medicaid which is what my son has, so i have made my son a appointment at the childrens hospital which has neuropsych's and a adhd clinic for kids only, but we don't go til end of october. i can't afford the prices a neuropsych charges. he does make some noises when on meds but it is worse when off. he does ok with other kids but recently he has been to clingy with the kids. which made the other kids angry. i am very worried about 1 st grade starting next week. the adhd meds do help him to a point life is alot better with them than without. so i don't know. i was told that at the childrens hospital he will be seen for 3 hours and a dx will be made as well as a treatment plan.

Do you think it's a vocal tic?  See the info under the post, "TICS," from tonight.

My son makes the strangest noises!!! He does them when he is standing on his head on the couch, he does them while he is watching tv....it is so  bizzare!

He doesn't do it when he is medicated though...

My son does it. In his case it is part of autism spectrum disorder, which is often mistaken for ADHd (and was with my son). It can be annoying but he has learned to only do it at home. The Neuropsych called it a "stim." Does he have any other unusual symptoms, like hand wringing or clapping a lot too loud or rocking or memorizing television shows or other things by rote? Does he interact well with other kids? Has he ever seen a NeuroPsych? The truth is not one of us can diagnose him, but a NeuroPsych can. In our case, our son was the same off stims as on them, which was because the ADHD was misdiagnosed when it was PDD-NOS. His hyperness has calmed a lot as he gets older. I recommend a Neuropsych, the only professional who is very proficient in diagnosing both ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. Be prepared for a good eight to twelve hours of testing, but you will get more answers than from professionals who just look at the kid, don't test at all, and get out a script pad. Here is another site you may want to check out. it covers all disorders.

my son who is on concerta 54 tends to makes loud noises on and off it really gets worse when his meds wear off,he will not really yell but make a screech noise that is loud . i don't think he realizes he does this. i not sure why and how to get him to stop.I can't answer that but ,barb38574.8715509259

I think it's good that you have the appointment in October.  It will help you get your questions answered about your son's behavior.  I know it seems like it's very far off.  Good doctors are frequently worth the wait.  Good luck!
