adderall vs generic![]() Justin, I've never had this experience, however when my Dr. prescribed me Adderall earlier this week, he was sure to mark the Rx w/ "No Substitutes". He made a generalized statement that was something to the effect of 'sometimes generics do not work as well'. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but it was unusual because he has never done that before with other Rx's. Now that I've read your post, it makes sense. Perhaps the generic Adderall, doesn't use all of the same ingredients. My Dr. has probably heard similar complaints, and decided to be pro-active. Mayber your Dr. will give you a new Rx, noting not to substitute. -J When I was first put on Adderal, about 1 yr. ago, it was brand name. But because of the rising cost of our copay for meds, I tied the generic. It seemed to kick in quicker, helped me focus, but it diden't last as long. Last month, I had to get name brand because they we're out of generic. yes there is a difference, but I'm not sure weather I can afford the "real thing". I also take other meds, and some don't come in generic. Also generics effect people in different ways. In school, we learned that even though generics use "fillers", depending on the med. and the person, it may or may not be a problem. For example when i had gum surgery 3 yrs ago, I was given a script for Vicoden ES. All they had was generic. I was in to much pain to go else where, so I just had them filled. To my suprise, they were actually better than the "real Thing". I guess it all depends the person. But your right, if I could afford it, I would go with real Adderal. I was given generic one time when filling my prescription and notice right away that I was have more problems with focusing. My psychiatrist makes sure to mark "no generic" and said that this seems to be the issue with the generic adderall. |
