Has anyone ever heard of Shadow Kid Syndrome? If so, what is it?I have never heard of this. I even tried to google it and came up blank. Sorry.

Shadow Syndrome Kids
Do you have a child that has been diagnosed with mild forms of disorders like Asperger's Syndrome,CAPD,SID,ADD, ADHD and others. Or does your child have a number of comorbid syndromes making it difficult to understand what is going on with him/her.

This is what I found on the family village website but I wanted to know if anybody else had any experiences with this syndrome. This is the first I've ever heard of it. My child seems to have a variety of these disablities. He's been diagnosed with ADD for 5 years and has been taking different types of meds. Currently he is on Ritalin 40 mg. I thought I finally found the anwser but he started acting up again this year. For example, his teacher just called me today and told me he was licking his books (last year he was licking his shoes) and eating oleander leaves. He told some of the students that he was going to shoot them....I know he doesn't really mean it. He does anything he can for attention. At the same time, he doesn't seem to have any concept of time. He drags along and doesn't care if he is late. He takes two hours to feed the dogs. He even talks with a sluggish "I don't care" attitude. I can go on and on. The odd thing is that he is like a wiz in math, reading, and spelling. His teacher says he is a human calculator....could this be Autism too? He can do the work WHEN he wants to. Usually he fails his courses becuase he has no desire or care to do the work. He is 13 now and he's been on medication since he was 8 but this type of behavior started way earlier. He's been on Adderall, Concerta, and now Ritalin. I'm scheduling an appointment so he can be professionally diagnosed by a Psychologist. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

It's not an actual dx....it describes people that have many symptoms of different disorders making it very tough to dx any particular thing. It is also used to describe people that may have very mild forms of a disorder.

Here's a good explanation...

Have you or anyone else here read this book?

No matter how I type this question, I fear it sounds snotty. I do not mean it that way at all. I read this book. Someone loaned it to me. I doubt that the person who loaned it to me ever read it in it's entirety. I've never seen it referenced anywhere else before now. If you did read it, what did you think?
