Behavior HELP needed NOW (Thank you ALL for your replies...it's been a big help. Oh and "NO TALES TODAY" - (doing another happy dance) Sorry I scared you guys...(referring to those that thought my son had gotten 500 sentences) kids relate to videos alot more than books I have found out. Sensory resources might be the place. Our kids attitudes changed when attending Public school . I have often heard one gets ones attitudes from peers also. Some here the boys mostly I dislike cause the parents are teaching there's to only invite certain kids to party's. Here kids can send invitations to school even when all kids are not invited. What ever happened to must be sent my mail or phone if not asking all.No wonder kids are so rude today. I told our son his closse friends are all that should matter to him. Some Christian book stores also have pretty large selections of videos/DVDs of this nature. I've heard of the Veggie Tales, and I know there are many others. Another thing to consider is specific Barney videos geared toward behavior. I have to say, though, I'm soooo glad my kids don't watch Barney. Try this web site.
http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/conflict/index.html I agree with Tater -- I thought your son must have fallen off the "no lying" wagon.
Veggie tales are pretty cool--they are religious in nature but not so much that it becomes a sermon vs. an educational tool. I know they are sold at Target (probably Walmart too--though I try not to send people there if I can help it).
I agree .. also if you run a search on-line regarding family videos there are lots sites. Ok here's the deal. Most of you know children lie - well it's a long story but we found our son a video of Sesame Street - Telling the Truth and he LOVED it...he's 7 but he's a young 7 and still likes Elmo. Sooooo...do you ANY of you out there know where we can buy more videos for behavior problems for CHILDREN (not for parents). Example: Respect, Morals, Listening, Responsibility, etc....I know this may sound crazy but he relates to videos.....then we talk about them. The Tell the Truth video was GREAT if anyone needs it...it actually tells the story about the Boy who cried Wolf along with another. Any/all help is appreciated...DVD's or VHS either one. Veggie tales are pretty cool--they are religious in nature but not so much that it becomes a sermon vs. an educational tool. I know they are sold at Target (probably Walmart too--though I try not to send people there if I can help it).I must admit...your title to this post is overly powerful...I was afraid to read it b/c I was afraid of what your son had done this time and how many sentences he was going to have to write. Glad you are finding success with the videos!
