Dexedrine v. Strattera | ADHD Information

Share
Hi,
My name is Damon. I was diagnosed with add as a young child. I’ve been using Dexedrine for on and off for years. I tried to go without medication for a few years in high school and college. Eventually, about eight years ago, I decided to go back to using the Dexedrine. It has worked pretty well. After I resumed using the Dexedrine I excelled in undergrad and went on to graduate from a good law school this past may. However, over the past year or so, I’ve began to wonder whether or not I’ve begun to build a tolerance. While it still seems to be effective, I’ve been noticing that I’m more easily distracted and somewhat more emotional than I have been in the past.
I take a relatively low dose (20 mg, time release). However, I don’t really want to increase it. After all, if I’m building a tolerance, I just can’t continue to increase my dosage over the years. That just doesn’t sound prudent.
I’m thinking about switching to Strattera. However, I’ve had conflicting reports with regard to how effective it is. I thought I would write and see if anyone has made the switch from a stimulant to Strattera and what their experience has been. It sounds like Strattera has several upsides to it. One being that you don’t build a tolerance to it. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Damon
