Bad Reaction Yesterday | ADHD Information

I take Adderall and have no problems. I do take 1/2 of the lowest dose (I break the blue tablet in half).

I had seizures with either Dexedrine or Ritalin (can't remember) and don't remember if it was on an empty stomach or not. So, I don't like to experiment too much either.

I do have some knowledge (or half knowledge - not sure) about vitamins. There is a brand that I swear by...Liquid Health. Check out their website http://www.liquidhealthinc.com/  You can buy it at many health food stores. In a liquid form, the vitamins seem to really get right in and do the job if they are going to do it at all.

I take the Energy & Stress formula, but also added on the Calcium (Magnisium too), and the Daily Multiple. I put them in a smoothie every morning. The Energy & Stress is made up of B vitamins that really, really calm. I haven't relied on Xanax or Klonopin in awhile. Calcium is supposed to do the same thing.

I also take Omega 3 fish oil.

All of these were working just fine for about 6 mo. (no meds), but I got into deep waters when I had to take care of my elderly father and was having relationship troubles with a boyfriend, so I went back to meds for now.

I was also taking DMAE (tablet form).

Liquid Health makes an "Attention" formula that I have been wanting to try. It sounds like it is basically the mix I described above but all in one formula.

Here's my smoothie recipe:

In blender add:

1 banana
1 oz. LH Daily Multiple
1 oz. LH Energy & Stress
1/2 oz. LH Calcium Magnesium
2 TB. Vanilla Yogurt
1/2 C Soy Milk (Plain or Vanilla)
1/8 tsp. Vanilla
1/4 cup berries (blueberry, raspberry, and/or strawberries--doesn't matter which)

Blend thoroughly. Very tasty. The LH vitamins are fruity flavored, but they are strong, so the rest of the ingredients mellow it out.

Hope that helps.

Angela,

That does sound like it could have been an anxiety attack.  I've been put on Prozac for anxiety - I can't believe what a great difference it's making!

Here's what I've been finding out - they typically like to treat people if they have an anxiety attack, the typical plan is if you treat someone early for several months (4 - 10 months) then they're more likely to not have any more problems later.

Please discuss this with your doctor and check if you can just stop taking your Adderall (if that's your plan) or if you need to be weaned off it, rather then stopping it cold.  I wouldn't want you to have any more problems by stopping the medication without doctor's approval.

PM me if you want to talk more about anxiety - I didn't realize how badly I had an anxiety disorder until I was treated with Prozac and see the difference it's made in my thinking.

Yesterday while I was driving to pick up my son from school I had a bad reaction because of Adderall, it fell like someone was crushing my chest,I had a hard time breathing, then my arms went numb and then tingly and I't was all I could do to keep from passing out and then alligator tears. I starting crying uncontrollably for three hours,I think my blood pressure went up suddenly and then I think I had an anxiety attack, then after awhile, still crying no doubt, I felt very weak and heavy(I'm 5'0 and 105lbs)and my head felt like it was gonna pop off, and I felt extremely, ExTREME..depression, this morning I feel fine...but I'm done with this crap....I'd rather take nothing at all in prescriptions. Does anyone recommend any type of vitamins to help with energy and fatige? Thanks...good luck to all of you....My husband and I eventually want a child of our own and I don't want to be on this medicine while trying to conceive.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the amount of Adderal you took.  I'm pretty small too (5'4", 112 lbs.). I take Adderal XR 20mg, or the regular shorter acting Adderal 10mgs.

Also I've not heard of anyone taking Adderal for help with energy and fatigue.  It just helps me plan better, focus better, start and finish things.  I don't feel more energy, just more focused.

Have you ever felt anxiety before or do you think this episode was just a reaction from the Adderal?

I'd agree with AutumnStar that it might be an anxiety attack.  Although amphetamine meds can do the same thing if you take them on an empty stomach and then they hit full blast.  During the first couple weeks I started taking dexedrine I had a couple of times where I felt rapid heartbeat and breathing - along with a feeling of impending doom or just feeling like I wasn't supposed to be where I was.  My MD told me to make sure I schedule my meals so I don't end up getting too much or little - your stomach acid it seems makes a diff as does any antacids - which you shouldn't take too near a dose.

After probably 3 weeks though I got acclimatized to the dose and never got the symptoms.  You may want to get a prescription for a small amount of an antianxiety med to keep with you if you feel an attack coming.  For sure keep your MD appraised of how you are.
