Know about cars? | ADHD Information

oh boy, I'm in a similar dilemna.

I lost both titles to my dad's cars that I'm supposed to sell. I finally found that I had misfiled them.

My own car has the grinding gear thing going on. The mechanic couldn't identify it and I don't dare drive it.

One of my dad's cars has a flat and no spare. I have to call AAA and I don't feel like dealing with it.

My advice? I would tell the dealer just what you told us. See if they'll give you a 0 credit (only tell him once you have cut the car deal though--don't want him to give you a 00 trade in value only to jack the car price up 00). They will just take the car to an auction anyhow.

If not, I would either put an ad in the Pennysave and say "Runs, needs minor work." 0. Someone might take a chance.

Last resort, donate the car and take the write-off.

This is not entirely off-topic... I have been meaning to replace my car for
a while, but it's an ADD thing, you see. I find the whole decision making
thing overwhelming (though I have researched it to death) and I
misplaced the title for my car -- I just now got a duplicate title from the
state. Avoidance, and procrastination, and all that... I've been dilly-
dallying on this for over a year.

Anyway, the car died today (with a great crunching of gears) and I had it
towed to the shop (cost: ). They want 0 to diagnose it, because
it's probably the transmission. But I am probably getting a new car within
the next couple of days anyway, because I can't go through this anymore.

It's old and it would be worth about 0 as a trade in if it was in decent
condition.

What do I do? Should I just have them tow it to my house as is? Should I
just forget about the trade-in and give it to whoever wants it? Is there
any reason to have the shop look at it?

Do you know a good backyard mechanic? Maybe he could put a rebuilt transmission in it and you could use it as a trade in. If you drive it in, you may get a better trade in on it.

If you know anyone who could do it, ask them up front what they would charge you for parts, labor, the whole thing. He may even know someone with a parts car who would sell the tranny cheap.

It never hurts to ask. You can make a decision once you have all the facts.
