Wow, did I get that one wrong. That has been happening to much lately. Too many things on my mind I guess. Sorry about the incorrect information. My son is also taking Strattera I know it usually takes up to a month before you get the full effects of this med. He also gets very tired on this med if he doesn't get the Adderall XR. Somehow the combination works best for him. He used to take the Strattera at bedtime but it seemed to wear off to early in the day. He is now taking it in the morning with the Adderall XR.
I am sorry, Its Strattera, not adderall, already tried that and it didn't work for me. As far as the Strattera, my physician wants me to take it right before bed but then I can't sleep, I've tried it in the morning, but after 4 hours I am practically falling asleep no matter what I am doing or where I am at. I am a business owner and need full concentration during the day, I want to switch doctors because mine is of no help right now.Are you on Adderall or Adderall XR? Just plain Adderall only last for 4-5 hours and then you need to take an additional dose. Adderall XR is the extended release version of this medication. it should last for 10-12 hours depending on the individual.
If you are taking just Adderall check the directions to make sure your not supposed to take another dose later in the day. If you are on Adderall XR you may need a higher dose. I would not recommend you take this drug at bedtime as it is a stimulant. My son who takes the med at 6:30 AM wasn't getting to sleep until 1 or 2 in the morning when the dosage was too high. Now on a lower dosage he can usually get to sleep by 10 PM.
I recommend you talk to your physician about the problems you are experiencing.
cheekdeeky, see that strattera shot up your heart rate. my daughter has been on strattera for about 1 year and is experiencing avg. heart rate of 100, and it goes as high as 175. BP also up. how long were you taking the strattera when your heart rate went up ?How long were you off of strattera before going back to normal heart rate? has any one else had the heart rate -BP issues occur after being on srattera awhile ( 6-12 months?)I didn't like Strattera. I've been on many medications for different things and this one gave me the most side effects I've ever experienced. Just changing doses would bring all the nasty side effects back and they were bad. I know it varies from person to person though. Then it shot up my heartrate and I had to stop taking it. I was glad.I took Strattera 40 mg for 2 week trial. Dr. told me to take it in the am before 8:00. For the first 3 days, all I did was sleep. After that, I was tired all the time and got nothing done as far as tasks go.
I stopped taking it. But, there were certain things I really liked and missed about it, mainly the "calm" feeling it gave.
Started back again, but this time at much lower dose. Took 25 mg in the am for one week, then 40 mg but split into 2 doses, 20 am then 20 at lunch (11:30). Wow! What a difference a smaller dose at a time has made as far as the fatigue goes.
I told my Dr. I wanted to use Adderall xr for focus until I've been taking Strattera for the full 6 weeks....so I can see what it will do on it's own. The two seem to be working really well together so far.
