Need a med opinion........ | ADHD Information

Sorry to post this in this section, I posted it on the med board and got no response.

My doctor wants to put me on cymbalta for my anxiety. Its new, I was wondering if anyone here had heard anything about it, side effects, if it is helpful, etc.

Also, she put my daughter on Trazadone to help her sleep............I read on the internet it wasn't approved for kids, worried me.

Don't know anything about Cymbalta. I tried Trazadone for a while for
sleep, and didn't personally like it because it made me too groggy in the
morning. But as far as safety goes, I wouldn't worry about Trazadone not
being approved for kids. Most drugs have a fairly narrow range of
"approved" uses, but docs prescribe "off label" all the time, which is a
good thing because then they can prescribe on the basis of new medical
research, recommendation from colleagues, etc. Very few drugs are
specifically approved for pediatric use. Drug companies don't routinely
conduct pediatric clinical trials unless the drug is specifically going to be
aimed at children.

Thanks, maybe I am a worry wart...........this dr. is very good, I trust her judgement..........just when its my child, I'm overly cautious with medicine, ya know?
