Anyone on Rispital? (sp?) | ADHD Information
I know I spelled the med wrong but I hope you know what med I am talking about. I am new here and I want to know if anyone or if anyone's child is on rispital for OCD? I want to know what you think of it and if you think it is safe. My son was just put on the medication and I am LOVING it but I would like to know the long-term effects or someone else's opinion. OH..and how old are you or your child that is on the med? Thanks for the help!!You must mean Risperdal. It is an atypical antipsychotic with many off label uses, but never heard of it for OCD. Some kids do well on it, mostly for the short term. If your chld starts having tics, you need to report it to the doctor. My son had a bad reaction to Risperdal, but many kids tolerate it well. Biggest concern seems to be weight gain. Good luck :) (My son was 8 when he took it)I
took risperadone for like about seven month's i dident have O.C.D.,
they gave it to me to keep me calmed down because i was out of control
for my a.d.d., it worked really really well to calm me down, that might
of been the only problem with it is that it calmed me down to much, but
i can imagine if a person has OCD that it would quite possibly work
extremely well, i have known plenty of people that had OCD but they
were prescribed like large doses of
VALUIM,COLONOPIN,XANAX,HALLADOL,E.T.C. but the long-term effect's of
risperatol/risperadone, is serious weight gain espechelly in the case
of anything over 1%, and it is not addicting in term's of, or at least
compared to all the other medication's that they normely give for that
disorder. But risperadone-relaxes you to an extreme extent to where if
you ever were to stop it, you would have serious problem's trying to
relax, stay calm, with anxiety,if he was to stop it - because he is used
to the med. and then he would be straight back to the disorder,
it would almost actually make the disorder worse, you have to have
long-term commitment to risperadone.
but it is the safest med. in it's class, take it from me
haladol,thorozine,zyprexa,sarah-quill all have extremely terribel side
effect's, extremely terrible , so in my opinion your docter know's what
he is doing. and i was 19 when i was on it and i was abel to quit it when i was 23, i'me 24 now.
wow socialite thank you for your story it was very helpful
to the original poster - did you place your son on risperdal and how did it go. I have just put my son on it today and would love some feedback.
