Hey jacks8897,
call the lego company, I bet they will ship him a new man!! Tell them that it broke! I have ALWAYS had wonderful luck with LEGO. We are MAJOR lego people here, even took the kids to LEGO land in San Diego, better than Disney world!! Do you live near a store? If so, they have a wall "pick a brick" and you might find the man or an even better one at the wall.
Let me know if you need the phone #!!
I HAVE days like that , kidding, mine are usually cased by my kids! Kidding. I hear you, some days you just cant wait for them to END! You know, typicla kids have bad days too.............hopefully it'll pass..............
You know you are right..EVERYONE one has these days..just seems like I worry more when he does and of course he has to lose it in front of Nanny who just doesnt always *get it*. My mom is supportive but her idea of helping is to say* well I hope you dont act like a baby in school when things dont go your way*...sheesh!!!
Can totally relate!! Mine is going to work for the company he has told me. He is going to design building sets, not such a bad company to work for. I heard on the radio once that they were hiring engineers at 6 digits to design and build for them. That is so up my son's alley!!!
Do you know how many ADHD'ers love legos - I meet them all the time at the store. It is an awesome toy. My son in on their website, hubby just signed him up for the year to play on it and build and design vehicles then move them around the worlds he designes. Do you want me to find the website for you and your son???
Heres the #1-800-422-5346
There is also a LEGO club. You do have to $, but we have given it to ds for gifts - # 866/534-6258. I am getting these off the stuff in the lego boxes.
We had them send us men because the set did NOT have the parts included. IT stated to NOT return to the store but to call, and they mailed my son the pieces!!
Hope this makes your son happy, and mom too!!
Regards!!

DS used to have those types of meltdowns when he couldnt tie his shoe, he'd try so hard, so carefully, so slowly to tie, and then when he'd pull the two loops, one would come all the way through! He'd get soooo upset and start crying and stomping his feet! He doesnt do that anymore, but sometimes he does get upset when he looses something he feels is very important. I mean he doesnt care if he looses his homework paper, but god forbid he looses one of those tiny Nintendo DS games!! They are like the size of a postage stamp!
My ADHD daughter - who just turned 11 - is also into legos and k'nex. We had a miss part issue too over Christmas break. She was building the remote control alligator (very cool set btw) and we searched and searched for on piece we couldn't find. Luckily there we found one (and only one!) in one of our tubs of legos and a major meltdown was adverted. My son, now 14, was also into legos - big time. Ofcourse, when he would build something and it wasn't quite right, he'd quit and blame it on the set. He still plays with them.
My son's "bad" behaviour is kicked up too when he doesn't eat. And - to make things even worse, when he is hungry, he kind of gets defiant and when you tell him to just eat something, he gets defiant and won't. He is much better when he has eaten.
Boy some days are just tougher than others!! Yesterday we had some errands to run, plus visit my 81 year old Mom , then come home and finish up a book report Ryan had due. Not your ordinary garden variety book report either. One done on a CERAL BOX!. Well we bought Ryan a leggo set to put together while at my Mom's. He loves loves his leggos. Well somehow this set , one of the leggo men was missing his hand..OMG Ryan was so upset. He searched my Moms living room for an hour, no matter what we said to him( by trying to reason with him) he wasnt buying it. He just got madder and madder, threw the box, then finally started to cry(pretty silently but cry all the same) Finally he layed down on the floor and after about 1/2 hour , decided he would *Find* a hand like that one at home in his other leggos(One of OUR suggestions). Ok we go home and he has to draw for his book report. He does that and proceeds to tear thru his leggos looking for that darn HAND!! He finally realizes he only has a brown one!! The missing one was flesh toned!! Again, the anger, the upset, the franticness of looking. When he threw the box this time I made him go in his room till he could calm down..AND told him if he broke or threw anything in there he lost ALL computer/nintendo time for the week. After laying on hsi bed for a good 1/2 hour I went in there with a glass of juice and he seemed more calm. HE then proceeded to tell us.......* I will find TWO brown hands and pretend he is wearing gloves*!!!!......He was ok with the book report considering I typed it while he *dictated* . Thank god his teacher allows that...
I am not sure what caused this up and down day. He has been on vyvanse for about 3 months and its working really well. The rebound is not too bad at night and we can usually get thru it with a can of coke and he takes his bath(wears off around 8). I am thinking maybe the fact that he is not eating much is contributing to this behavour. Al lhe had to eat yesterday was a waffle in the morning. a 1/4 bagel for lunch and some juice. We ate dinner after all this stuff and he ate fairly well. I try to coax him to eat and get the *im not hungry*....
I just dont understand how he gets so crazy about such small things!!! Its a LEGGO MAN FOR GOODNESS SAKE!..
Thanks for letting me vent!!
