ok...i have had this tinnitus problem since 2000. some meds like lexapro made me much worse so i had to stop. some times it just gets louder on it own for a while as well.
it is always there in the back ground never giving me a break anymore but it is more quiet but still there.
now is this a coincidence? three days ago i went up to 20 mgs of adderall xr and the ringing has been horrible non stop!
my ear has a fullness in it and i know i have high frequency hearing loss as it is from the ringing but i wonder if the adderall x r is making it worse.
today i am NOT taking it! i am giving myself a break from it. i am tired of being speeded up all day long and on the go on the go on the go....
has anyone had any problems like this?
I have had ringing in my ears for years and years I don't know what causes it and don't know how to stop it I just try to have others noises going on when I got to sleep so it don't keep me up. When it's to quiet in my house the ringing hurts bad but if I balance out the ringing and the sounds in my house I'm ok.
I dont currently have any problems with the ear ringing or anything, but have had that problem in the past as well...and it was the jaw clenching that was causing it for me.
I grind my teeth and clench my jaws so badly, that I wound up with a nasty lil case of TMJ (temporal mandible joint disorder) and had to wear a mouth guard type thing full time for about a year to help shift my jaw back into proper place, and wore braces for 3 years to help them permanently set them in place. Of course, through the past few years of not having braces, the clenching and grinding has caused them to move and shift more, but not to the point of causing pain, ringing or headaches like in the past.
Perhaps you should ask your dr, a dentist or even an orthodontist about this.

But does seem to be much worse since I started concerta a few months ago.I had the same problem. It didn't matter whether it was AdderallXR, Concerta, or even Lexapro. I had the ringing and the fullness in my ears. When I talked to my Doctor he knew right away what it was. He said it had nothing to do with the meds. He said that sometimes when you take certain stimulants it makes you clinch your jaw or grind your teeth. He said to be aware of it and he also fit me with a mouth guard to wear as necessary(when there is ringing).
