Is your car messy on inside? | ADHD Information

LOL it's kind of like making the bed. Why make it in the morning when you just have to unmake it again that night.  I think I actually clean my car more often then I make my bed and that is saying something my car is a disaster on the inside lol. it just builds up with papers etc and I need to clean it out....problem is, I just haven't gotten the motivation to do it yet> I'm also bad about getting a car wash for the outside. I'll go a month or 2 before I get it done because I keep forgetting or have other things to get done.....but after I get the car wash, my car is always dirty again the next day so what is the point of washing it? lol j/k. but i hate how it gets dirty that fast in a day!

I have two little boys, three dogs, a messy husband,,,,,

Oh who am I kidding. Its my fault my car is a living garbage can. I clean it out when it starts to stink. I usually find chicken nuggetts wedged in around the car seats.

I am too franticly busy getting nothing done to deal with things like that. !

Boy do I know the van situation!!!!!  I am now on my 2nd van with 4 kids it never, ever stays clean for more then 2 days!  I remember one time when I had my 1st van-we pulled up next to another car parking.  Their were 2 women in the car-when my kids opened the door to get out both of them started pointing and laughing.  Boy my feelings were hurt!  However, we still have the same issues with a dirty van!

What car? I haven't any money 8)

My car is almost always clean on the outside b/c I like the looks of my car and also I recently started cleaning houses as a bussiness, and some of THEIR cars cost more than our house! Now the inside is another story! I try so hard to keep it "neat", which last maybe for a day or so b/c my car has become my office. My vaccuume is the only thing I take out every night.

Ok, I was so proud of myself today, until about 3 hrs ago! I had all my little cleaning do-dads tucked away, and the other stuff origanized and ready for tomorrow. My hubby noticed and said "everything looks great, but I bet you still have the sand in your trunk from last summer when you and Tequila (our Parrot) worked at the beach" Just as I said "well of course not", he opened the trunk. No sand, but I did have about 3 hefty bags of pples trash that I never took out popped out at him like a Jack-in-box! I cackled until I almost peed my pants. Hubby walkes away shaking his head.

And by the way, I haven't had any complaints about my house cleaning, and the money is great! I wish I could get someone to pay me to clean my car. Money! so motivating

Esperanza, I know just what you mean. I clean some other's homes, for $$ of course, and only wish I had that motivation to clean my own place and car! Rona, so you know just what I mean. Do you think we could possibly have a service that the so called "normal folks" would PAY US to clean our homes and cars, so they woulden't have to look at our clutter?! Probably not, but I think it's a great idea! YEAH! Does the word "pit" mean anything to you? Because that's my car!My thought is if I ever get stuck in the boonies I will probably be able to survive. My friends and husband clean my car for me. Sweet HUH? Last time we found at least 8 or 9 half bottles of water, many packs of smokes with 1 or 2 in them , about 10 lighters, toliet paper, lots of reading materials, some clothes, lots of change,  and a bunch of unidentifiable crumbs!!!A pristine interior but a messy trunk.  Our car the same thing.  I do homevisits all week with work and pray I do not have to transport anyone which happens occasionally.  Once every couple of months i break down and go to Delta Sonic where you pay and it covers a car wash inside and out, they vacum for you and clean it out while I sit and wait.  I should dust more since my child who has ADHD is allergic to dust.  I am just as bad as my husband and child our car is always sloppy.  my motto is as long as my house is cleaner.Cleaning my car is like being an archeoligist. It's like a window into my distant past.

[Looks out at car which resembles a dumpster]

Let's just not do this topic, OK?

Mark -

This seems to be a problem for me even prior to having my two ADHD children. Does your car get built up with fast food cups, coffee cups, shoes, jackets, clothes, papers, toys, crud, crayons, pop cans?

I make it a point every two weeks to clean it out but it just accumulates.

Am I the only one with the messy inside of a car that just keeps happening over and over no matter how I try to keep it clean? I see other cars and some people keep them so clean on the inside. I honestly wish I could. Maybe that will be my new goal for the next 3 months. (I also now keep a trash bag in the back that most things get tossed in and then after about a month I have a huge bag of trash to toss.Despite my "best" efforts I can never seem to keep my car from becoming an absolute disaster area.  I just cleaned it yesterday, shouldn't take long to go south again. My car is just a mobile extension from my house........and my house is not in the best order!!!!I have owned cars for years and NEVER washed them I can't really imagine for me a more boring use of my time.
Inside is always complete disaster.
Oh yes! I was just thinking about this today and how I can keep it cleaner. It's so hard with a child since he loves all his toys in the backseat. Maybe a bucket to put it all in! I just throw stuff on the floor and the only time I clean out the trash is when I am waiting pumping gas. Good (boring) time to organize the car. Does a bear sh*t in the woods?

I don't wash the outside either....if I did, I'm afraid it would fall apart (something has to hold it together).

Gotta love an ADHD car!  My husband says my car is a MUCH BIGGER version of my purse!  Both look like products of a storm!  If I know I need to take something to somewhere or someone I go ahead and stick it in my car.  I figure it's my car, I'm the only one who usually drives it and it doesn't bother me!  To make matters even worse, my husband is one of those engineers Ann Landers used to write about!  SUPER NEAT.  Last week I heard him tell our Granddaughter, "Don't go in Nana's closet, it's dangerous, go in Grandpas!"

ltcmom38491.3567592593 My cars used to be.  But I have not worked in about 4 or 6 years (stay at home dad and student) so my wife brought home the bacon that bought the car and truck we have... Also, since she drives both vehicles during the course of the week.  They stay tidy.  Which is nice.  While my cars may have  ended up looking like mobile garage sales- I prefer to ride/drive a neat and clean vehicle.

Yes, my room is messy, my car is messy, my folders are messy, I have unpaid parking tickets from last year, I can't organize my e-mail, I have laundry I haven't done in weeks, and I use post-id notes to organize myself, and that hardly works.

Don't worry, you're not the only one.

You know we have all tried to keep our car clean with no avail. I think there is just a messy monster inside of us that no matter what we do the only way that we would be able to continue to keep our car clean is to have a self cleaner that when we get out of the car it activates and cleans the vehicle for us with every use.

My wife and I have tried and tried to continue to keep our car clean but you know it has not worked. But you know one of these days maybe 50 or 60 years I will be able to keep the car clean.  And you know another thing our bedroom what is that but a trap for clothing to be on the floor bed not to be made us and everything to be out of place. It is a trap for dirt no matter what you do.

I get so embarressed sometimes because the car is like a tip.

well, i came up with a different idea.... Who has ever proven that waste in
a car is a negative thing?
I fixed up an old timer and said to myself that old stuff is in the right in
place in such a vehicle. Then i tried to throw old paper right behing me,
the half eaten food to the right side, and everything else onto the right
back seat.
After i could not find the key a few times, i thought: great! i have spared
one place... right between my feet. It would certainly be more probable
that i dislocate the key then anyone stealing a moving dustbin. I gave it a
go...
Turned out to be a good deal. There were only three categories of dump
to get rid of and i always found my key afterwards. Only problem: I did
not find the car in less than an hour very often. But at least the cleaning
was done quickly (though i have to admid that it was less of a problem
than finding the waste --- ehr... the car).
It really depends on the point of view :)HAH you people worry about cars? I drive a van, do you KNOW how much more garbage you can get in a van?

Though lately I've been trying hard to keep it clean...
You know you guys make me feel better... I sometimes think hey there are so many in the same boat.... And that comment about the van made me laugh... LOL.... My car inside is sort of okay but my trunk needs sorting out... I will do that this Friday... I am just having a full schedule including working at my regular part-time job, doing a paint job, cleaning, applying for a new job... Scared 2                     MY TRUNK IS  THE  WORSE...EVERYTHING  GOES  FROM THE CAR TO THE  TRUNK. MY FATHER CAME  FROM FLORIDA IN JAN. AND  I STILL HAVE A  2 LITER OF  PEPSI  THAT I BOUGHT THE  DAY BEFORE  HE CAME
BUT I HAVE TO CONFESS INSIDE OF  MY CAR  IS A   MESS...IT IS  HARD  TO RUN HERE AND  RUN THERE AND   PLAY TAXI AND  TAKE CARE OF  KIDS  HUBBY AND  HOUSE THEN GO CLEAN MY CAR  IN BETWEEN.

I actually just threw some stuff in my car out.... It is not actually not that bad inside my car.   However, it has gotten messy many times! And my family gives me grief over it.   I need to go and buy myself a special basket.  That is what I plan on doing.  Find something in Wal-Mart for the bottles of water for the road.... I am getting better at this.... It is easy to tell yourself I will do it later....I feel for you, man.  It is a group thing.  Many ADHD people have to really work on organization.

Some times the mess comes in handy.I can almost always find spare clothing for my children.Juice box anyone? I can't tell you how many times I have cleaned my car out then said"o man if only I hadn't cleaned my car out, I would have that Item I need." nine times out of ten, if something is missing you will find it in my car.when we are looking for something, Evan my two year old will say, mommmys car!Uhmmm mine looks like a family of 4 lives in it...lol I know it's time to clean my car when I have to start fighting to hold back the junk that is creeping under the drivers seat. Nothing motivates you more then a dog toy or thermos wedged under the gas or break pedal lol Is this a trait in common with people who have ADHD or ADD?  There seems to be an awful lot of us with problem.  My house is pretty clean.  Not hospital clean but fairly clean.  However since I got my first car at age 16 it has been a mess.  I would always clean it before big dates but other than that it was always just awful.  I am so embarrased of it that I park in the farthest reaches of our parking lot at work so people wont see the inside.

Reference messy car- I would really like to clean my truck, Blazer.  I am embarrassed when I have a passenger.   I always save things thinking I might need them later, like pamphlets and such.  I don't consider myself a lazy person but my mind just won't cooperate, like I don't know where to begin so I just don't begin, kind of an overwhelming feeling.  Seems like that with my housework also.

My Honda CRV was a disaster area for 5 years. I recently bought a new mazda RX-8 and with a strict no tolerance policy for leaving stuff in my car when i get out, i have kept it clean. Hey guys guess what? I cleaned out my trunk out last night. Not by choice I'M going on a  feild trip with my sons 6th grade class to a  ammusment  park in Houston and I have to deive my car, and hubby had to  make  sure I  had agood spare tire in the well. When he opened the trunk he  just shook his head with a  smirk on it and said I should  of  known.A long, long time ago when my old car was about to fall apart, literally, and there was a new baby in the family, a car lot that we knew well let me take a gorgeous Chrysler Town & Country minivan home so that I could test it out and have my then-husband look it over for me, etc.

Well, exhole wouldn't let me have it because of the way my car has always looked in the past LOL  OOPS!
