John Kennedy Jr. | ADHD Information

Share
I just watched a show in John Kennedy Jr.  They went into depth about his life as a child and guess what! They said if he was around today he would have been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia.  He had trouble reading and sitting still, etc. etc. He needed a lot of remedial help to get through school and basically remained at Exeter Acedemy despite his grades-but he was really very smart.  He went on to Brown University and in my opinion was a successful young man.  Anyway I like these stories as they give me hope-thought I would share with everyone. Yes, I have heard that as well (they also list Tom Cruise as ADD as well -- whether that is substantiated I have NO idea).  I also heard JFK Jr. had problems passing his bar exam -- that would make sense if he was ADHD and could not focus on a test, etc.  It's always nice to have "success" stories to look to!Yes, I too love to hear things like that.  Please refer to the "Biggest Wishes" post .

Its just such a shame he wasn't very good looking, huh?

Too bad he died young, he was that family's best hope of producing a major American figure.

Yep!  A lot of people said he didn't have any interest in politics, but I think he would have become a politician.  They did mention that John Jr. always thought he was dumb!! And he was very nervous aboutthe whole world knowing wether or not he p[assedthe bar.  As an ADHD person the media scrutiny had to be tough on him!Yeah he failed the bar twice?  Or was it three times?  I remember it being all over the paper.  KENNEDY FAILS BAR EXAM AGAIN.  Great self esteem rouser for an ADHD dyslexic, huh?

Love JFK, Jr.....such a sad ending.   Extremely upsetting to us Cape Codders.

Wonder if his ADHD had anything to do with the plane crash...apparently he was flying alone before he should (impulsiveness?), and got disoriented (spatial problems?)...who knows.

Good point!  He always was a risk taker and impulsive.

BTW,

You know it is believed that President Bush has dyslexia?  I attended one of Howard Gardner's lectures (he's a famous psychologist from Harvard who researches multiple intelligences).  He said that Bush was a classic dyslexic, and Gardner believes this is why Bush has such difficulties pronouncing certain words or forgetting which word to use when he's speaking.

You don't consider his father a major American figure?

Oh no, I do. I meant he was the best hope to continue that legacy into the future.
