*Bits and Pieces*
Wow! Another Newsletter already! This is so exciting! The response to the Newsletter has been just overwhelming! I have a lot of requests to send this newsletter through the snail mail as well as electronically. While I'm more than ready to tackle this task, I'm not sure what the most economic route would be. There are a lot of readers who have family members that would be interested in this Newsletter but are not connected to the internet. The trick is going to be to keep costs down so that it is affordable. If you have any ideas, let me know! You can reach me at Contact Us
We still need a name for our little publication. I had a lot of great ideas but unfortunately, they are either taken by other, larger organizations, or are very similar. Some suggestions that we can use are: P.A.L.S. Positive Alternatives and Life Support for families with ADD/ADHD, Focal Point and Stay Tuned, ADDvantage. If you have any ideas or suggestions, or know if any of these names are in use, let me know! Also, Please send me your feedback on the names already mentioned!
More Business! Ideas for regular features are always welcome, and some of the ones I have received include separate sections for teenagers, kids, netpals, books, support group info, and Addult issues such as employment, relationship and substance abuse issues. Let me know which ones you like, which you don't or send me some ideas of your own!

**NEW ADD/ADHD SERVICE!**
David Rabiner, Ph.D. is looking for our input concerning a new service that he is interested in providing. Please take the time to read his idea and send him your input at firstname.lastname@example.org. Here's an idea for a new service that I think would be really helpful. Each month, researchers are publishing new information about ADHD that can have important implications for our children. Unfortunately, because this information is published in scientific journals, it is very hard for parents to access. To help keep parents informed, the psychologists at ADHD Assessment Services are planning a newsletter (either monthly or bimonthly) that would summarize new research findings and discuss how they may be applied to help children with ADHD. The information would be delivered via e-mail and would cost approx. $30.00 per year. Please e-mail me to let me know whether you would be interested in this and whether the price seems reasonable. Any ideas you have about other information that would be helpful to include in the newsletter would be appreciated. If it looks like there is sufficient interest, the service could begin this fall.
I have a couple of readers who are working hard to provide chat areas for those interested in ADD/ADHD. LuAnn wrote to tell that she leads a chat for ADD/ADHD at irc.another.net in #parentsroom on Thursday nights at 10pm (est). For more information contact LuAnn at email@example.com.
Eric Lusk has set up a chat room at http:// www.thecoo.edu/~elusk/add/chat.html Contact Eric at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

** TIMMY DREAMS By email@example.com**Timmy dreams he's a child till the end
what a joy when you are your best friend
the worlds such a toy
if you'll just stay a boy
you can spin it again and again.
Timmy tries with no use for disguise
just escapes using mirrors and capes
and the words do the trick
there's no bigger kick
than rhyming again, and again.
The sound of the low tide
the smell of rain
being along with my thought in my brain
take it all in, it's as big as it seems
count all your blessings, remember your dreams.
Timmy stares toward the bright pleiades
its so strange what his distant eyes sees
who knows why you start
re-discovering your heart
but you do it again and again.
Timmy has add….that's why Timmy dreams.

**HELPFUL PARENTING IDEAS!**
This information was sent to me by Anne. She's from Australia and saw this book mentioned in the Medical Journal of Australia. It's titled "Creating Kids who can Concentrate: Proven strategies for Beating ADD without Drugs". J Robb and H Letts (Hodder and Stoughton, 1997, 246pp. Costs $19.95 in Australia and should now be available in the United States.
Aileen wrote with some suggestions for traveling. On their trip from Florida to Kentucky last year, she bought individual cassette players and headsets for the girls. She also had story and music cassettes. They rented books on tapes and played them in the car stereo so that the entire family could listen together. They stopped at rest areas and took their time. Some rest area's had play ground equipment as well as trails and they used hotels that pools. Everyone seemed to relax more after a swim.
Another great idea for a parenting tool came from Kerry. Her pediatrician gave her a book called "The Family Contract" by Howard Leftin, M.D. and she has made a contract with her son to encourage him to complete his daily responsibilities such homework, cleaning his room and feeding the dog.
This about wraps it up for this Newsletter. The new update for the website has been posted, new information and new requests so be sure to check it out! Don't forget to submit your ideas, suggestions, requests etc and I'll consider them for publication. I believe what makes this newsletter and my website different from all the other is the sharing and exchange of ideas that take place among the readers so your input is very important to ALL OF US!
